豊臣秀吉は天正元年（1573年）から
天正4年（1576年）の間長浜城主でした。

豊国神社は長浜町民が、秀吉の3回忌に
当たる慶長5年（1600年）、秀吉を偲んで
建立したそうです。

しかし、江戸時代に入ると江戸幕府の
命令でより秀吉を祀ることが禁じられて
社殿が取り壊されてしまいました。

町民によって祭神が町年寄の家へ移されました。

その後、八幡宮の古堂を移築して恵比須神
（事代主）を祀る神社として復興しましたが、恵比須神がある本殿の奥で密かに秀吉を
祀り続けていたそうです。

境内には出世稲荷も祀られています。

商売繁盛や立身出世を祈願したい方には

Toyotomi Hideyoshi was the lord of Nagahama Castle during the the first year of Tensho (1573) to 4th year of Tensho (1576).

Hokoku Shrine was built by Nagahama residents on the third anniversary of Hideyoshi’s death.

In the 5th year of the Keicho era (1600), in memory of Hideyoshi.

However, in the Edo period, the Edo shogunate’s
The order forbade the worship of Hideyoshi.
The shrine building has been demolished.

The deity was moved by the townspeople to the house of the town elder.

Later, the old hall of Hachiman Shrine was moved to Ebisu Shrine.

The shrine was restored as a shrine dedicated to Hideyoshi (Kotoyoshu), but Hideyoshi was secretly killed in the back of the main shrine where Ebisu was enshrined.

He continued to worship them.

The shrine also enshrines Deyo Inari.
